I work primarily with adults (18+) who are seeking a moderate level of support with issues related to family, work, and social environments.
I also work with adults who have experienced chronic abuse and/or neglect during childhood, in circumstances where work and housing are very stable.
Please note: I do not offer out-of-hours consultations or functional crisis support.
Rather than focusing primarily on problems (eg. pathology and diagnosis), Community Psychology leverages strengths within the social, environmental, and cultural contexts of a person's life.
This lens can be especially beneficial for people who work or volunteer in settings such as not-for-profit; community care; environmental justice; gender equity; child safeguarding; and community building.
It’s common to feel uncertain about what you will encounter in psychotherapy. Some people worry they will talk too much, or not enough at all. Others have a clear idea of the concerns they wish to address. During your first session, I will guide you through a discussion about what you hope to achieve, and you will have an opportunity to share any background information that is relevant to your goals.
You do not require a referral to see a psychologist in Australia. Many clients choose to attend without seeing their GP at all. In this case, the full consultation fee applies at each session.
As of 1 July 2025, the Medicare Better Access Scheme offers a rebate of $98.97 for a 50-minute session with a general psychologist. Through Better Access, eligible individuals can claim this rebate for up to 10 individual sessions and 10 group sessions per calendar year (1 January to 31 December). A referral from a GP, psychiatrist, or paediatrician is required to access these sessions.
