My commitment to people and community culture is grounded in over 15 years of practice with children, families, and professionals significantly impacted by overwhelming circumstances and challenging barriers to recovery.
I began this work as a live-in carer for young adults recovering from childhood abuse and neglect. I was fortunate to work closely alongside values-led practitioners who set the tone for an occupation in which self-care is equally important as the work of caring for others. With regular training and supervision in attachment- and trauma-informed practice, I spent several years facilitating the Learning and Development Program at Lighthouse Institute, in Melbourne.
Whilst studying a Master of Applied Psychology at Victoria University, I worked at MacKillop Family Services in Footscray and Greater Geelong, providing specialist advice regarding children living in state-funded Residential Care, and leading a team of therapists towards positive outcomes for at-risk families across the Western suburbs of Melbourne. I was often moved by the spirited sense of resilience shared by clients and colleagues alike.
As I leaned into the values of Community Psychology during the covid pandemic, I came to appreciate my own mixed ancestry and intersectional identity. To develop beyond the intellectual rigour of academic psychology, I carried my personal yoga practice through a period of professional teacher training. Exploring this tradition of ancient wisdom helped me develop an anchored capacity to hold space for a wide range of tender human experiences.
Since 2022 I have worked in private settings offering individual and group interventions that are based in compassionate inquiry and the neuroscience of safety. I have deep reverence for the role of the human mind-body connection in facilitating psychological flexibility and resilience.
Outside the office, I enjoy a range of hobbies and engagement with local community groups, lending my interest and skill to various initiatives.
